The $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl coming up this summer received such high demand that they've expanded the field to 56 and they’ve announced 20 of the final 21 players in the field. 

Phil Hellmuth has been performing strong at the L.A. Poker Classic. He's made two mixed-game final tables and took down the $1k OE title over Mike “The Mouth” Matusow. 

Finally Isildur1 may have a new online home soon. He is reportedly in negotiations with Unibet on a sponsorship deal.

An underrepresented group of poker players in regular poker news, women have dominated the headlines this week. 

Canada’s Ema Zajmovic made history by becoming the first woman to take down an open-field World Poker Tour Event. 

Meanwhile, Nadya Magnus of PokerStars Big Game fame took down her second career WSOP Circuit ring after winning the $2,200 High Roller at the WSOP-C Potawatomi stop. 

Finally, two-time WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood took down her third WSOP-C ring at the Palm Beach Kennel Club stop.

The $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl sold out in just six hours and forced a lottery to fill the at-large seats. 

Trueteller is the top high-stakes player online through the first five weeks of 2017 and the Stacy Matuson/Will Kassouf "Grudge Match" turned out to be a dud. 

Meanwhile, Max Pescatori is selling his 2015 Stud 8 or Better bracelet to aid in earthquake relief in Italy.

Melbourne Local Turns $130 into $1.6M in Aussie Millions; Libratus AI Throttles Poker Pros

The 2017 Aussie Millions has come to a close with Melbourne local Shurane Vijayaram putting an exclamation mark on the series by turning a $130 satellite into over AUD $1.6 million in the Main Event. 

Meanwhile, surging pro Nick Petrangelo moved past $7 million in career earnings by taking down the $100k Challenge. 

The much-awaited 'Brains vs. AI' challenge is also in the books but the pros did not fare so well. Libratus crushed them for over 1.76 million chips.

November Niners Run Deep Again, $300k Super High Roller Bowl Returns

A pair of November Niners made deep runs this week. Cliff Josephy finished 2nd in the PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event while Jerry Wong took down a preliminary event at the Lucky Hearts Poker Open. 

Meanwhile, the Super High Roller Bowl will be returning for a third instalment. The event will return on May 28 at the Aria in Las Vegas and will feature a $15 million guaranteed prize pool.

2016 was “The Year of Fedor Holz,” or at least that's what it looked like for the majority of the year. 

David Peters apparently didn't get the memo because he put together a last-minute run to steal both major Player of the Year titles. 

After a third-place finish in the EPT Prague main event in December, Peters took the lead in both the CardPlayer and Global Poker Index Player of the Year races and never looked back.
