Two big names in poker have taken down titles in the past week. 

2012 WSOP Main Event runner-up Jesse Sylvia is finally a poker champion after taking down the Main Event of the WPT Borgata Poker Open. 

Daniel Negreanu added to his online poker resume, taking down the WCOOP HORSE Championship on PokerStars. 

Finally, if an Arkansas Senator has his way, online poker will be dead in the United States in 2017.

Poker Hall of Fame Finalists Stir Up Debate, Fedor Chops WCOOP $102k for $1M

The WSOP has announced the 2016 finalists for the Poker Hall of Fame and, as usual, the list is producing controversy with Daniel Negreanu, among others, calling the list "bizarre." 

Meanwhile, Fedor Holz continues to win millions. Over the weekend he chopped the PokerStars WCOOP $102,000 Super High Roller for just over $1 million.

Big names Lichtenberger, Rast, Peters win gold at WSOP 2016

Some big names took WSOP gold this past week. 

Andrew "LuckyChewy" Lichtenberger finally earned his first WSOP bracelet – according to him, thanks to healthy living. 

David Peters took his first WSOP bracelet just three days after winning a $25,000 Aria High Roller Event. 

And Brian Rast became just the second player in poker history to win two $50,000 Poker Player Championship events.

Kempe Wins in Super High Roller Bowl while Perkins bets $50k

The 2016 Poker Central Super High Roller Bowl is in the books and German Rainer Kempe is its champion.

He came into the final table on Wednesday with a massive chip lead and was able to hang on against one of the best final tables of the year to take the title and $5 million.

Meanwhile, Bill Perkins is at it again. He has put up $50,000 that Byron Kaverman cannot run a triathlon in under 13 hours.

Shakerchi Raids SCOOP Main, Boston Rob FTW, WSOP in 3-2-1…

Hedge fund kingpin Talal Shakerchi took down the Main Event of the 2016 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) this past weekend for $1.46 million.

Boston Rob of Survivor fame can now be called a poker champion after taking down a preliminary event at Run It Up Reno.

And the 2016 World Series of Poker kicks off next week from the Rio in Las Vegas. This year's WSOP features 69 bracelet events along with expanded payouts.

The first season of the Global Poker League has hit Week 7 and both the Montreal Nationals and Moscow Wolverines have pulled to the front of their respective conferences.

Meanwhile, Shawn Buchanan and Luke Schwartz have both earned their fifth career SCOOP titles, putting them one behind Calvin Anderson for the all-time lead.
