GRIZZLYBEAR3 wins $1250 in Rakebrain's Turkey Freeroll!
We want to thank all of our members who came out to our Thanksgiving $5,000 Freeroll yesterday and played our bounty tournament on Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet with us.
Our 3 bounty players unfortunately did not 'pwn' our members as we had anticipated, but there will be a rematch and we're not going to 'soft play' or drink a keg next time.
Our first bounty player to leave, RB_BOUNTY3, donked his stack off in the 2nd hand of the tournament to JOFREEE in a god awful 5th nut flush vs nut flush hand that reminded us why we never play an office game without him. He claimed to have 'work to do' but we're pretty sure he was killed in a 9 person sng twenty minutes later and donkaments aren't really considered 'work' over here.
RB_BOUNTY2 was a little less pathetic. After trash talking most of our members playing style ('garbage' was said a lot) and claiming to be the most intelligent and attractive man to ever walk the earth, DIE_FLOTE put an end to Mr. Ego's party and picked up the $200 bounty taking him out 82nd overall.
RB_BOUNTY2 claims to have been up against a class 5 starting hand but we cannot confirm or deny this because we were busy doing tequila shots and updating the rake stats (yes, that's why they're wrong sometimes)
So it was all down to RB_BOUNTY1, who is known as the 'nice guy' over here at Rakebrain HQ. Our members fell for his nice guy routine all through to the second break as he stole pot after pot with well timed bluffs and the occasionally lucky river card. We expected someone to question how much R was in the RNG that day with the amount of hands he played, but nobody seemed to catch on until the bubble approached.
46 players left, our bounty player still had a good enough stack to push through and KROLKAZIMIER picks up AA in the big blind. You know where this is going right? It's the bubble and he has AA.... Here's the HH:

AA VS A8 is such a set up hand...
8 handed....
preflop....
KROLKAZIMIER - RB_BOUNTY1 (nice guy) is telling us we should hook you up for the bad beat and our support received your excellent e-mail. We're going to ship you $25 for this in the spirit of our Thanksgiving freeroll. Villain was obviously in the giving mood with this preflop shove but the doom switch hits everyone from time to time. We wouldn't even consider folding KK preflop never mind aces!
So we're past the bubble and RB_BOUNTY1 makes his glory shove with 66 and 7JACKALZ snap calls with AK making a boat by the river and taking $200 more off of us. However, RB_BOUNTY1 did place in the money for $22.50 by finishing 42nd overall and we were all pretty drunk by the time this happened, so it was really only our boss that lost anything.
Final Table payout started at $85 for 9th place and moved all the way up to $1250 for first. If we hadn't continued drinking and playing roshambo we could probably give you a better idea of how this ended. But we did. Plus the title kind of ruins the surprise of what's about to happen.
Heads up was CPT_NUTTY vs GRIZZLYBEAR3 who quickly saw the huge difference in the $770 2nd prize and $1250 for 1st. We've never had a deal option in our freerolls because we aren't afraid to lose (especially when it's our boss's bankroll) however, a deal was what they wanted and a gentleman's agreement for the winner to ship $200 over was made in chat. We aren't fans of 'deals' but we also weren't at the final table so what do we know.
The top payouts for the tournament can be found below and we're hoping everyone will make it out next month when we have a similar tournament. Nothing has been confirmed yet but the rumors are that it will be Boxing Day, larger starting stacks and Rakebrain bounty players taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in the freeroll!
We hope to see you all next month and good luck at the tables!
