My first AAKK Double Suited
Yesterday I reached a milestone in my Omaha career. I got my first Ace-Ace-King-King double suited – the best possible starting hand in Omaha. Whatever, you might think. But this isn’t Hold’em where the best starting hand comes around every 250 hand or so. This is goddamn Omaha, and statistically I have to wait 50,000 hands before I receive it again.
Yes it’s true. The odds against getting A-A-K-K double suited are 50,000 to 1. And still, you’re not always that big favourite with it. If you’re up against some sort of middle connectors like 8-7-6-5 double suited, your advantage is somewhere in the range of 3 to 2.
So how did it go for me? Well, the flop came Q J T rainbow. In other words, stone-cold nuts. The turn came 5h, still the nuts. The river came Ah. Now there were three hearts on the board.
My opponent had J T 9h 4h. Bummer!
I’m not mad; I’ll just patiently wait for my next opportunity to play AAKKds. Unfortunately, I’ve only played 2-3,000 Omaha hands; so statistically, I have to wait almost 100,000 more hands…
I’ll get back to you when it happens.

Your odds if held as fact…means that your odds every hand are 1 in 50k, therefore it is not likely to take 100k hands…statisics can be your friend if applied correctly.
Cheers…

Of course Flow, I’m a sucker for the gambler’s fallacy
I’ll just have to wait one hand and roll the 50,000 sided Omaha dice.
Randy, thanks a lot!
Cheers to both of you!
